I've been missing my high school friends a lot lately. Don't get me wrong. I don't miss high school one tiny bit, but I definitely miss the memories. Sometimes I feel like I lack girlfriends in Arizona, but I think that's just because I was so fortunate to have 16 of them at once in Las Vegas. So unless I have 16 girls to hang out with, I'm going to feel like I have no one. Some days I find myself looking through old pictures and laughing at all the inside jokes and memories that were made. It's funny how nights that seemed so insignificant at the time are the ones that end up engraved into your memory the most. The nights where we swore that we were going to find something epic to do but instead just sat in a car and drank slurpees ended up being the ones that will stay with me forever. One of my favorite nights in high school was spent sitting on the couch in my best friend Amy's living room. My friends Alexa, J.Mo, Taylor, and Josephine were there. We ate pretzels and told secrets and laughed so hard that we were gasping for air. We watched Dr. Phil and baby videos of my friend Amy and did impersonations of mean people from our school. At the end of the night we climbed into Amy's parents' gigantic and unbelievably comfortable bed (they were out of town). We laid there laughing and making noises and scaring each other in the dark. It was a night full of immaturity and yelling and junk food and everything in between. Even though I have fallen in love with Arizona and all of the people that have come into my life here...sometimes all I want is a night full of pretzels and Dr. Phil with my friends that have known me for ages.

Thoughts
I don't really have a subject matter in mind for this blog post but I just feel like writing, and that's a good enough reason for me. Please excuse the lack of organization....I'm just going to ramble.
If you've been reading my blog you know that I was just reading a wonderful book called Cold Tangerines by Shauna Niequist. Well I finished it a few days ago and I just got her second book Bittersweet in the mail yesterday. It's hard cover and sky blue and just looks so beautiful sitting on my nightstand.
I want to go to a wedding. I wish that one of my close friends would get married so that I can go buy a pretty dress and spend a night dancing and drinking in the name of love. I know that's super cheesy but I just think weddings are the greatest thing ever. I refuse to believe in divorce and cheating and anything other than true love. I will always believe that two people can stay in love forever as long as they work at it. I guess I owe that belief to my parents who spend every Saturday and Sunday morning sitting in the backyard eating breakfast together. They are in love and I want to find that one day. But until then...I want someone I know to find it so that I can celebrate with them, and more importantly, twirl around on the dance floor in a pretty dress.
I don't think girls look good with their hair parted in the middle. Yes, some celebrities can pull it off and look decent. However, I have NEVER seen a person that looks better with their hair parted in the middle than to the side. Just my opinion.
That's all.

Cold Tangerines
I am currently reading a book called Cold Tangerines. It's written by Shauna Niequist and it is the most wonderful book that I have ever had the pleasure of holding in my hands. I wish I could begin to describe to you in words what is so amazing about this book, but nothing I could type would ever do it justice. Cold Tangerines is meant to help people see the extraordinary miracles of everyday life that are so often looked over. One of my strongest beliefs is that everything happens for a reason and even the most seemingly tragic event will somehow be reborn into a miracle. Shauna encompasses this idea better than I could have imagined through her beautiful short stories. This book will change your life.
"I want a life that sizzles and pops and makes me laugh out loud. And I don't want to get to the end, or to tomorrow, even, and realize that my life is a collection of meetings and pop cans and errands and receipts and dirty dishes. I want to eat cold tangerines and sing out loud in the car with the windows open and wear pink shoes and stay up all night laughing and paint my walls the exact color of the sky right now. I want to sleep hard on clean white sheets and throw parties and eat ripe tomatoes and read books so good they make me jump up and down, and I want my everyday to make God belly laugh, glad that he gave life to someone who loves the gift." -Shauna Niequist
