One Ticket Please

I have a newfound obsession with going to the movies alone. I've always wanted to try it and since Austin is away in London for 6 weeks...now was the perfect time! And much to my surprise...I LOVED IT. I've gone to see two movies alone so far: Something Borrowed and Midnight in Paris. There is just something about cozying up in the seat with a soda and having no one around me that just makes me calm and happy inside. I don't think I would go see a comedy movie alone, because it's way more fun to laugh with LOTS of people. But Drama and Romantic Comedies alone? Sign me up. I thought this was going to be a temporary hobby of mine while my boyfriend was gone...but I definitely think I will still be sneaking away to see a movie alone even when he gets back.

Catcher in the Rye

I just finished Catcher in the Rye and I lu-lu-lu-lu-lu-loved it. I'm kind of mad at my teachers for never assigning it to me high school....but then again the only books I ever read that were assigned to me in high school were 1984 and King Lear, so maybe it's a good thing.

Next up, The Kite Runner. I'm already on page 68. Love it so far.

Handful

It's always a nice feeling to come home. It's nice to be surrounded by people who have known you from the very beginning. Of course, those people are usually family but I also have a few friends who I consider to be people who really know me. Sometimes it's hard for me to come home because I've created such a comfortable life for myself in Arizona. There is not much left for me in Nevada other than family, two pugs, a cat, and a few lingering friends. However, I've recently learned that those four reasons are plenty enough. I can't even begin to explain my love for my family...so I'll try to talk about my friends. The handful of close friends that I still have in Las Vegas are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. They are brilliant, insanely creative, fun, caring, and NO ONE can make me laugh like they can. Our list of memories is endless and our inside jokes will never stop being funny. Returning to Arizona after a visit home always makes me painfully aware of the hole in my heart that can only be filled by their presence. Sorry about this super cheesy post...I just love my home friends. I really do. And if one of you are reading this...you probably know who you are.

Teaching

It's so strange to think that when I walked into my first dance class when I was only three years old, I was already walking into my future. Teaching dance has brought me more joy that I can even begin to express. Although I'm almost finished with my degree in Secondary Dance Education, I think my true love will always be teaching the little ones. I can't really put a finger on why I adore them so much. It could be how they look at me lovingly with big, innocent eyes while I tie their teeny, tiny ballet slippers. Or maybe it's the whole-hearted laugh that comes bellowing out of their little bodies when I make a ridiculous joke. I'm not really sure. All I know is that I have never felt so loved and honored and blessed in my whole life. Even though some days they are unmanageable and crazy at best, the thousands of smiles and waist-height hugs they give me make it so worth it. I'm not sure what profession I considering going into before this one, but I know in my heart that I made the right choice.
